Deejay has over forty years of business experience and is headquartered in Bangalore, India. The Deejay Coconut Breeding Project was set up in the year 1983 under the expert guidance of Prof. Anthony Davis, an UN expert. Today, Deejay Farms is the largest producer of high quality Coconut Seedling, Hybrid Coconut Seedling, etc in India. This project was started with the intention of meeting the Indian farmer’ s requirement of quality Commercial Coconut Seedlings. Presently these seedlings are produced at Madurai and Ambur in Tamilnadu, Bailur on the West Coast in Karnataka and in Sanguem, Goa. Today, Deejay seedlings are the preferred planting material for maximum productivity. Results from thousands of farmers are proof of high performance and profitability.

This organization is headed by David J Lobo, Chairman, who is an entrepreneur for over 40 years. David Lobo has also set up the Bridge Foundation, a micro enterprise development trust in 1983, which is one of the largest trusts in this space. He has also co-founded the not-for-profit Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, rated among the first twenty Management Colleges in India.

M. Murali is the C.E.O of Deejay Group and carries with him over twenty five years of dynamic and growth orientated experience in Deejay. He is supported by a qualified and expert team to ensure that the vision and productivity of the organization is achieved.

QualityControl:

With the objective of providing high quality Coconut Seedling, Hybrid Coconut Seedling, etc to the farming community, Deejay Farms has developed a synthetic mother tree that is capable of providing early flowering and more & larger nuts from its progeny. Deejay has developed an in-house software to monitor over 20,000 mother and father trees performance on daily basis. Deejay Farms adheres to a quality policy of destroying all weak and doubtful seedlings to ensure supply of pure hybrid seedlings to its customers.

Deejay Farms do not have any stockists or agents in the field. This is to ensure that the farmer collects his / her seedlings directly from Deejay Farms to be sure of the quality of seedlings.

Products we offer:

We are providing three types of hybrids for the market needs with specific unique qualities.

Deejay Sampoorna – A general purpose hybrid coconut seedling variety good for copra and good for tender coconut water.

Deejay Pushkala – A special hybrid coconut seedling variety for large quantity of tender coconut water as well as for large content of copra.

Deejay Vishwas – A special hybrid coconut seedlings variety with specific qualities to withstand stressful field conditions giving double the productivity compared to regular local varieties.

Services we provide:

  • After sales service by visiting customers gardens to provide guidance on timely management practices.
  • Over the phone technical guidance for immediate help to the farmer.
  • Training to the farmers in coconut management practices.
  • Training to the farmers in bio-compost preparation.

Deejay Hybrid coconut field performance:

  • The Deejay hybrid coconut seedlings flowers in 1/3 the time and yields three times the number of nuts per year compared to ordinary tall varieties.
  • First flowering seen in the second year of planting.
  • 250 – 275 nuts per palm per year with an average of 200 grams copra per nut, is quite easily achieved under reasonably good management conditions.
  • 300 to 325 tender coconuts per palm per year with over 500 ml of sweeter Tender Coconut Water is generally achieved.
  • 68% oil with an yield of 5 tonnes and more of oil per hectare per year is recorded by many farmers.
